Ghosts of Girlfriends Past:: Movie Review Ghosts of Girlfriends Past:: Movie Review. Ghosts of Girlfriends Past is a romantic comedy that starts with a womanizing photographer Connor Mead (Matthew McConaughey) that sleeps with woman and then quickly breaks up with them and he is asked to be the best man at his brother’s wedding. He is then visited by ghosts of his mentor, his Uncle (Michael Douglas) and ex girlfriends who show him his life so far, not unlike the classic story a Christmas Carol by Tomas Dickens .Connor is also faced with his first love, Jenny (Garner) and the fact that he might be still in love with her. This is just what a date night movie should be a not to serious story of relationships and there ups and downs.
The Last Hurrah :: movie review 2009 The Last Hurrah :: movie review 2009 The Last Hurrah is in my opinion the final evolution of the college party movie, a group of philosophy majors have one last graduation party filled with sarcastic comedic introspection. This film has Carl Jung as a punch line, come on how you can argue with Carl Jung quotes, not Fredrick Nietzsche or Freud its Jung and its very funny. This is a high brow, lofty script with quotes and banter from many famous philosophers and their great truths and untruths that keep pouring out from this small film like the tap on a keg of beer at the usual collage festivities. This is their Last Hurrah and this entire ensemble cast has some great lines that would to be expected as the characters try to outdo each other as only a group of philosophy majors can.
The Boat That Rocked or Pirate Radio for US release
The Boat That Rocked : retitled Pirate Radio for US release 2009 .This is the story of a Fictitious pirate radio station broadcasting rock and roll from a boat located of the Island of Britain in the year 1966. The story is told through the eyes of a young Carl (Tom Sturridge) who is sent to live with his godfather Quentin (Bill Nighy) the ship's captain after being expelled from school . Radio Rock is the name of the station and as the BBC is playing only 2 houbawdy Dave (Nick Frost)rs a day of rock and roll this station plays it 24 hours a day. Radio Rock is a smashing success and this leads to the government cracking down on them with new rules, as the oblivious crew of DJs sit offshore and rock the county out.
Get Smart When the top secret spy agency Control’s head quarters is bombed, bumbling analyst Maxwell Smart is made agent 86 and teamed with agent 99 they embark on a mission to stop control’s arch-enemy Chaos. There are some elements from the old get Smart TV Show from the 70’s and some new stuff that would be applicable today. There are some really funny scenes and some slapstick stuff too that I wasn’t very fond of, but it works as a well and really lives up to the very popular television show it’s based off of. Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway have some chemistry and that adds to the movie and with the Rock, Dwayne Johnson, adding some really funny one liners. It’s a great DVD to sit back and enjoy, and would be a good safe choose for a date night…
Fanboys movie review Fanboys :: movie review . The year is 1998 and 4 childhood friends find out that Linus has cancer, so they all decide to drive thousands of miles to break into the Skywalker Ranch and steal a copy of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace to watch as a kind of last wish. They end up taking a wild cross county trip that includes brawling with rival Trakkies (star trek fans), doing peyote with an Indian medicine man and stripping in a gay biker bar. There are cameos from some of the stars from the Star Wars movies and see if you can notice them, it’s really cool.
Choke : movie review 2008 Sam Rockwel Choke : movie review 2008 : OK this is a stretch but I’m going to try to do this, meet Victor (Sam Rockwell) as the movie starts he is at a sex addict’s anonymous meeting, he and his best friend who is also a sex addict work at a theme park based on early colonial American Life and have to speak in old English or be reprimanded by their idiot boss. He is a conman who tricks people into thinking he is choking in restaurants to get money from them that he uses to play for the hospitalization of this mentally sick mom who doesn’t even recognize him.

"Whats UP doc?" UP the 2009 Disney : movie review So, it’s gone full circle a generation that was raised on cartoons as Children has lived to see a cartoon made that deals with end of life issues and the meaning of life. With traces of The BUCKET LIST and REVOLUTIONARY ROAD as the plot the themes, the new film UP from Pixar Animation Studios has incorporated deep levels of human condition whether or not some of the young viewers ever understand it. I guess with a buzz about an Oscar already for a BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY for writer Bob Peterson for this film, we enter into a new era of animation, a place where the writers of the original cartoons like Warner Bros. Cartoons Bugs Bunny could never ever imagined going. GO

Battle of the mall cops… Paul Blart: Mall Cop vs. Observe and Report : Movie reviews. So here my entry in the halls American literary excellence, my movie reviews of the Box office smack down brawl of two mall cop movies that are released back to back in the same year. Hey maybe I should write a screenplay about a chubby mall cop would wants to be a real cop and saves the hottest girl in the mall from the bad guys, on second thought it’s been done…twice. So the big question, which is funnier, which one of these movies was a better story, or should you see both films?  Read more

Bruno 2009 vs. Borat 2006 : movie reviews I can’t write about this year’s new release of Sasha Cohn’s Bruno with mentioning one of my Favorite comedies Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. Both films are based on Characters from the Ali G. show which Sasha Cohn had on The Television Channel HBO. I really like Borat I laughed out loud more than a few times this film coined some Phrases that entered into the public conscience Like….”not”.  Full Article

The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters :: 2007 movie review  The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters is about the world record high score for the highly popular in the 80’s arcade game Donkey Kong and who really is the champ. The game as those of us who have played it gets progressively hard as you move up levels to the point of utter insanity. This is the story of Steve Wiebe and Billy Mitchell , Steve is trying to get this record that has been unbeaten for over 20 years. There is a bunch of other people associated with Twin Galaxies, an organization formed to keep track of high scores achieved on arcade games in the United States and they are interview, which adds to the story and its complexities. This documentary film has all the elements of a real movie, meaning a hero, villain, conflict and resolution which are rare in a documentary and kind of surprising...go

How to Lose Friends Alienate People

How to Lose Friends & Alienate People :: movie review . Sidney (Simon Pegg) is a failing journalist that does a celebrity magazine in England that has fell on hard times he can’t even get into the A-list parties. He runs a front page cover of Clayton Harding (Jeff Bridges), and ends up getting offered a job at his magazine in New York. Alison Olsen (Kirsten Dunst) plays his co-worker that is having an affair with his direct boss Lawrence Maddox (Danny Huston), and after a series of wild events he falls for  a rising actress  Sophie Maes (Megan Fox) and the plot unfolds. This is a really well written and funny movie, with a top notch cast and, I was really surprised by the intelligent humor. This was recommended by a friend who wouldn’t stop talking about this film so here is my little review. Ok, that said I sat back and with a cynical smile on my face was won over by this film. It has some interesting dialog and a sense of irony, as well as a pointed theme and a mocking of itself the whole celebrity machine, that is what I like in a good film. As we move deeper into the world of Sydney we find that he is  not that bad of a guy and is quite brilliant as a matter of fact, never short of witty one liners that seems to cut like a knife, a passive aggressive warrior in a world of fake plastic media vultures...

No spoiler reviews

OK “We don’t do spoilers”; it’s my policy to be very vague about the story lines of the films I review here. I have always hated reading movie reviews that tell to much about a film. Entering a theater already having preconceived notions about the plot and / or the outcome of the film in the past have ruined the viewing experience for me,so this is why these reviews are written this way . I hope you enjoy our NO Spoiler Action Movie Reviews!
