The Boat That Rocked or Pirate Radio for US release
The Boat That Rocked : retitled Pirate Radio for US release 2009 .This is the story of a Fictitious pirate radio station broadcasting rock and roll from a boat located of the Island of Britain in the year 1966. The story is told through the eyes of a young Carl (Tom Sturridge) who is sent to live with his godfather Quentin (Bill Nighy) the ship's captain after being expelled from school . Radio Rock is the name of the station and as the BBC is playing only 2 houbawdy Dave (Nick Frost)rs a day of rock and roll this station plays it 24 hours a day. Radio Rock is a smashing success and this leads to the government cracking down on them with new rules, as the oblivious crew of DJs sit offshore and rock the county out.

The stations D.j.s include The Count (Philip Seymour Hoffman), Smooth Bob (Ralph Brown), Angus (Rhys Darby), Simon (Chris O'Dowd), the mysterious Midnight Mark (Tom Wisdom) ,and the "king of the airwaves", Gavin (Rhys Ifans).
. The screener I saw was to long and I read that it is being re-cut to be less than the over two hours version I watched . The characters in this film are fun and this film does not take itself to seriously it just a film about early rock and roll. Philip Seymour Hoffman's character The Count never really emerges as he is over shadowed by Gavin (Rhys Ifans) as he enters the story. The whole feel of this film is very well done and the late sixties fashions are wild and really add to the flavor. Now the music yes, the music a film about a radio station has lots of music and the selection for this film are great. We get to hear the best of the best and it really make the film flow, I think the long running time has caused by the director Richard Curtis not wanting to cut out songs, not scenes. This film is just what I needed to watch after being bombarded with robots and shaky camera scenes, it a classic movie with a classic fell and has a COOL story with a not to complicated plot.

No spoiler reviews
OK “We don’t do spoilers”; it’s my policy to be very vague about the story lines of the films I review here. I have always hated reading movie reviews that tell to much about a film. Entering a theater already having preconceived notions about the plot and / or the outcome of the film in the past have ruined the viewing experience for me,so this is why these reviews are written this way . I hope you enjoy our NO Spoiler Action Movie Reviews!
